Golf Outing to Benefit Special Olympics

The Mundelein Police Department is seeking your help in kicking off our 18th annual Golf Outing to benefit the Special Olympics of Illinois. The event will be held at Steeplechase Golf Course in Mundelein on Monday, May 21, 2018, and we are sure it will be very successful.

Mundelein Police Explorers Fare Well at State and National Competitions

Rockford Police Explorer Conference Awards

In June 2016 the Mundelein Police Explorer Post 184, attended the Rockford Police Explorer Conference. During the conference, the explorers had the opportunity to compete in both team and individual competitions against 25 other explorer posts throughout Illinois. While not competing, the explorers attended law enforcement related seminars, and networked with explorers from other posts across the state.

Women Self Defense Class

Join the female officers of the Mundelein Police Department in a four week class that teaches women the importance of self-defense. Our primary goal is to teach women awareness and prevention of violent attacks. We will also arm you with the tools you need to physically defend yourself through various real-life scenarios and proven defensive tactics. Be prepared to learn, sweat, and have fun!

Toys for Tots

The Mundelein Police Department is a drop-off location for the U.S. Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" program. Unwrapped toys, in their original packaging can be donated for distribution to children who are less fortunate by placing the items in the collection bin located in the lower level lobby of the police station, located at 221 North Lake Street.

The collection site operates during the months of November and December, and closes approximately one week prior to Christmas Day to allow the event organizers time to set up for distribution.

Shop with a Cop Program

During the December holiday season, police officers take the opportunity to go shopping with children who need a little help in boosting their holiday joy. The children are given a spending limit from donated money, and are assisted by the officers in making their purchasing decisions. The event not only helps increase happiness during this time of year, but it also helps build a positive relationship between the community and the police.

The event takes place at the Mundelein Super Target.

Peer Jury

Crime among juveniles is better prevented than punished. The Peer Jury Program is a positive, court diversion process that focuses on the rehabilitation of non-violent, first-time offenders and provides a meaningful and remedial method of dealing with selected offenders without reference to the Juvenile Court.

National Night Out

National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, began as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Cops N Bobbers - Fishing Derby

This event takes place annually during the summer months. The fishing derby is for children 13 and under. Come on out, kids, bring your pole, and compete for prizes. Bring a picnic lunch.

The Mundelein Police Department will host this years annual Cops N’ Bobbers Fishing Derby at the Mundelein Seminary on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 8am – 12pm. Bring the kids for a day of fishing fun!

If you are interested in helping out or making a donation please contact (847) 968-4600 and ask to speak with Officer Messina.

Block Parties

Block parties happen during the summer months and are initiated by homeowners on a residential block who are getting together with their neighbors to celebrate the summer. Police go to the block parties to meet with new and old residents of Mundelein. In promoting the community policing philosophy, officers pass out coloring books, badges, and other safety materials to the children.

Bike Rodeo

The Bicycle Rodeo is an annual event, where bicycles are given a safety check, and riders are judged on their skills in an obstacle course competition. Bicycle registration can be completed, which helps in identifying found, lost, or missing bicycles. Prizes, such as helmets, water bottles, riding gear and a new bike, have been issued at this event.
