A-May-Zing Mundelein

This event occurs in the month of May and solicits the assistance of area volunteers who help senior citizens with household chores which may be difficult or impossible for them to handle on their own. It brings people together and shows the true meaning of a community. Many tasks that are accomplished include washing windows, cleaning gutters, mowing lawns, moving heavy/awkward items, etc.

Contact Jenni House at 847-968-3770 for more information.

The 2018 event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018

Summary of 2017 A-May-Zing Mundelein Day of Caring

A-May-Zing Mundelein’s 22nd Annual Day of Caring was originally scheduled on May 20, 2017.  Due to torrential thunderstorms, it was cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2017.  76 residents from Mundelein and throughout Lake County volunteered their time and energy to complete 54 projects at 22 residential locations throughout the Village.

The Public Works Department was instrumental in the completion of each of the projects.  They delivered and picked up supplies at many locations as well as picking up the garbage and lawn bags; without their help, the event would not have ran as smoothly as it did.

The Mundelein Fire Department did visit 26 homes completing 25 gutter cleanings and 9 home safety inspections.  Due to the fire department helping out throughout the whole weekend, not just on May 20th, these projects were completed May 19 – 22, 2017.

Volunteer participants, included members from the Mundelein Business Alliance, former Trustee Holly Kim (Village Homesteading Mundelein), Mundelein Fire Department personnel (in May), Mundelein Police Department personnel, Girl Scout Troop 45266, the Eskimo Tribe of the Indian Princesses, Joe Fiorelli State Farm, Just Worship Church, Keumgang Martial Arts, M.A.S.C., the Latino Citizen Police Academy, Carl Sandburg Community Service Club, and Matthew’s Clearview.

This year we had several local businesses donate either supplies or volunteers:

                        Groot donated a dumpster

McDonalds donated an extra value meal coupon for each of the volunteers

                        Taylor Rental donated ladders
