A-May-Zing Mundelein

This event occurs in the month of May and solicits the assistance of area volunteers who help senior citizens with household chores which may be difficult or impossible for them to handle on their own. It brings people together and shows the true meaning of a community. Many tasks that are accomplished include washing windows, cleaning gutters, mowing lawns, moving heavy/awkward items, etc.

2019 A-May-Zing Mundelein Summary

The following is a summary of this year’s A-May-Zing Mundelein event:

A-May-Zing Mundelein’s 24th Annual Day of Caring was scheduled and completed on May 18, 2019, a beautiful, sunny and warm Saturday.  Over 250 residents from Mundelein and throughout Lake County volunteered their time and energy to complete 118 projects at 44 residential locations throughout the Village.

The Public Works Department was instrumental in the completion of each of the projects.  They delivered and picked up supplies at many locations as well as picking up the garbage and lawn bags; without their help, the event would not have ran as smoothly as it did.

The Mundelein Fire Department did visit 35 homes completing 32 gutter cleanings and 12 home safety inspections throughout the whole weekend.

Volunteer participants included Trustee Robin Meier, Trustee Erich Schwenk and Trustee Kara Lambert.  Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim and Lake County Board Member (District #10) Jessica Vealitzek also participated.  Members from the Mundelein Business Alliance, Mundelein High School Honor Society, Mundelein High School Football Team, Mundelein High School Cheerleaders, Mundelein Fire Department personnel, Mundelein Police Department personnel, Mundelein Queens, Girl Scout Troop #45266, Keumgang Martial Arts, Latino Citizen Police Academy, Carl Sandburg’s/Mechanics Grove Girls on the Run, McMahon Services, Matthew’s Clearview, and a few families from Mundelein volunteered their time.

This year the following local businesses donate supplies:

                        Groot donated a dumpster

McDonalds donated an extra value meal coupon for each of the volunteers
